The current lockdown situation has meant that a number previously scheduled book events have had to be postponed or cancelled altogether. Luckily, enterprising individuals are finding ingenious ways to ensure that some of them can still go ahead. One of these is Noir at the Bar Edinburgh, which will take place as a virtual event on Facebook, with an impressive line-up of crime authors — and me! — reading two-minute extracts from their work. I’ll be reading a slightly abridged version of the prologue to my first novel, the McIlvanney Prize-nominated In the Silence.
